January 18, 2017 – “Shattered Illusions” – KGB Cold War Espionage in Canada

shatteredillusionsWe are sold out for our January event. Please save the date of Weds. Feb 22nd for our next chapter meeting.

Join us for the first Dinner Meeting for 2017 and a true story of the KGB operations in Canada.

Retired CSIS member and current Pillar Society President Don Mahar will give us a firsthand and unique account of a true story involving the KGB and its operations in Canada. He knows it because he lived it. He was involved in this case and the de-brief of this KGB agent which has twists and turns. He has written a new book entitled: “Shattered Illusions” to be published in January 2017.  Yevgeni Vladimirovich Brik and James Douglas Finley Morrison were central figures in what was considered one of the most important Cold War operations in the West at the time. Their story, which involves espionage, intelligence tradecraft, intelligence service penetrations, double agent scenarios, and betrayal, is a piece of Cold War intelligence history that has never been fully told. Yevgeni Brik was a KGB deep cover illegal. The story is linked to Ottawa…this is more current than you think.
