Wayne BooneThe late Dr. Wayne Boone

ASIS Chapter 140 has renamed their student scholarship as “The Dr. Wayne Boone, CPP, Memorial Academic Scholarship” in honour of one of our significant contributors. The late Dr. Wayne Boone, PhD, CPP, was an outstanding advocate of  security education and along with Len Babin, CPP, was one of the co-authors of the scholarship program. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Boone was a founder of the Masters of Infrastructure Protection and International Security (MIPIS) at Carleton University, Ottawa, ON. He died unexpectedly in a June 2015 vehicle-motorcycle accident and is sadly missed by his friends and colleagues across Canada and internationally.

In September 2015, he was honoured posthumously by ASIS International Canada as an award winner of the Ron Minion Award as a Canadian Security Industry Pioneer.

ASIS Ottawa Chapter 140 also believes the promotion of security education is fundamental to the professionalization and growth of the industry. The Dr. Wayne Boone, CPP, Memorial Academic Scholarship was designed to assist full or part time students in security studies and inspire early professional involvement. We welcome applicants!
